Damn The Light Promotions will host a one-night tribute to iconic band Blondie on Friday 28 March at New York's Duane Park.
Broadway World promises that the show will be an "all-star" affair, showcasing "some of NYC's Premiere vocalists from both the downtown rock-and-roll scene and theatre community", including "Emily McNamara (The Chocolate Show, Awesome 80s Prom), Miss Guy (The Toilet Boys), Cathy Cervenka, Christian Dryden, Carleigh Jade, Agnes Jawien, Briana Layon, Amber Martin, MaryAnne Piccolo, Leah Roth, Michael T, and Danielle Tyler."
The online publication states that, "The evening will be under the musical direction of Mike Greco (keyboards)... The full band line up will include Joe Young (guitar), Jimmy Caputo (bass), Joe DiBella (drums), Adam Enright and Cassandra Sandberg (backing vocals)." Excitingly, it states that "This month's band will feature special guest Matt Katz Bohen, member of Blondie."
Broadway World offered this summary of the 'Ghosts Of Download' band: "Blondie began in New York in the mid-1970s punk and new wave scene creating quite a noice. Founded by an incredibly edgy yet beautiful Debbie Harry, along wih her then lover and musical genius Chris Stein, the band quickly took over prominent downtown clubs. They explored new territories of sounds and styles, truly making them a unique and irresistible force. Byt the late 70s and early 80s their eclectic musical style, compelling rhythms and seductive pop melodies propelled them from the fringes to the mainstream with hits like One Way or Another, Heart of Glass, and Call Me. Blondie is still touring the world performing to sell-out audiences. The band has achieved worldwide record sales of over 40 million, and is now celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2014. Unlike many of its contemporaries, Blondie has remained hugely popular, relevant and culturally significant, and for that, this band is a true musical treasure."
Doors are at midnight with a $15 entry. There is a $20 minimum per person for table service with reservation. Kitchen is open until 1:30am. Duane Park is located at 308 Bowery (between Bleecker and Houston). Reservations are strongly suggested. Space is extremely limited. (212) 732-5555.
